Hi Everyone. I call myself Firebird here on the net. No, it's not my name, but it's a net name I chose myself. Primarily, it's a reference to a book I loved years ago when I chose the name: "Firebird" by Kathy Tyers. I still read it from time to time, and it's a good story. But it's also a reference to the phoenix that rises from the ashes of an old life to soar again, and to the element of Fire, which anyone who knows me in RL can attest is one of my loves. I'm like a moth; I can't stay away from lit candles or fireplaces on cold days. I think that actually I'm just wanting to hold the fire because it's so beautiful and I'm always surprised when I get too close and burn myself, LOL. (No, I'm not an arsonist or anything. Candles are more my speed.)

Flying is also a constant dream. While I'm afraid of water and somewhat claustrophobic, I long to fly, not in an airplane, but just to soar free like a bird. Not very realistic, but who said dreams have to be realistic, eh? So, as the Firebird, I'm free to fly, at least in imagination.

As you might guess, since I chose my 'net name from a book title, I read CoNsTaNtLy. I'm also interested in philosophy, law, college, French, living overseas, visiting Venice, technology and gadgets, dance, and figuring out how stuff works - whether it's a pen, a novel, or a statistical proof.
